![]() ![]() The impulse installer wasn’t any quicker, but you didn’t have to watch all of the ugliness unfolding, so it felt better.Īfter installation, you start the game and get to watch a brief cutscene of a battle between two wizards and a long slideshow accompanied by a *really* long bit of backstory that will make no sense and that you’ll never remember anyway. If you were playing the non-Collector’s Edition you’d also have to patch the game … which was equally slow and painful. I remembered the installation as fairly painful – there are a ton of files in the game directory rather than using compressed bulk files for most things, so it is a slow process despite being only three CD’s. So naturally, in my quest to change over to an all-digital game collection I grabbed it – and that ended up being a wise choice since it is no longer offered! Once again I attempted to start fresh with the game. So why play it again? Quite simply, I was setting up my Alienware m11x and was heading to each of my digital download sites and grabbing games to download, and on Impulse I discovered that Dungeon Lords: Collector’s Edition had been released for $5. Dungeon Lords can be played either single-player stand alone, or in multiplayer group sessions. ![]() Journey through an enchanted land of ancient castles, dark forests, and dungeon lairs braving an army of diabolical foes in real-time, action-packed combat to uncover the secrets lying hidden within the depths of an evolving storyline. Dungeon Lords is loaded with quests, personal missions, extensive skills, and special abilities for customizing your own character hero from a variety of races and multiple class specializations. ![]() The Dungeon Lords Collector’s Edition also ships in a limited-edition painted metal casing that is sure to look great on any collector’s shelf.ĭungeon Lords is a new breed of epic Fantasy RPG, a unique combination of RPG and Fighter game action in full 3-D, featuring a deep storyline shrouded in mystery, surprise, and betrayal. In addition to all of the latest updates, The Dungeon Lords Collector’s Edition includes new quests, spells, effects, monsters, and amazing new heraldries and character customizations to take your RPG experience even deeper. If you have read any of these, you know that I enjoyed Dungeon Lords but consider it an extremely flawed game, and noted in my review of the Collector’s Edition that even with all of the bugs fixed it just wasn’t ever going to be great. You can read my review, my review of the Collector’s Edition (required to get the final patch), my original review, a lamentation, and probably other stuff I’ve forgotten I wrote. I have already done a couple before making the transition official, including the ongoing ’50 Games That Defined The Decade’ series and the look back at Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.īut for now let’s start the series officially a little closer to home with a game that I have already written on rather prolifically: Dungeon Lords. As I recently announced, I have started switching my Netbook Gamer series to a more broad-based look at games called ‘GearGames Retrospectives’.
